So, recently I gave myself a Book of Mormon Challenge. Read the book in 31 days. Yep. Well-I have been on the pursuit and have landed in Alma 19...pg 256. Though I didn't reach pg 531, I did get a great jump start to my continual study.
Things I am grateful for and have relearned:
1: Nephi pretty much is my hero. With all the complaining of his brothers and sometimes even his mom and dad, he held out faithful to the Lord. I am in awe.
2. Alma and Amulek: Stalwart missionaries that watched their converts get burned for believing, and still they looked to God.
3. King Benjamin: Reminding me how blessed I really am, that no matter how much I try to repay the Lord, I can't. He's given me so many blessings.
4. In General: Prophets and good people that struggled in life, but still looked to God.
I am so grateful for this Book and know it is true.
My life has been more chaotic than usual, but yet I have been more happy. There once was an analogy of scripture reading to baking bread.
When you bake bread, it feels the home with a warm, nice smell. Likewise, when we read the scriptures, the Love of God fills our home. We are kinder, nicer, more compassionate, understanding.
It has been this way with us. I'm a better wife, teacher, friend, daughter, sister, when I read the Book Of Mormon. There is special power in the scriptures.
I am continually on my quest to finish what I started. Happy Reading!
